Mochi Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-05-29
Mochi is a daily 2-second video-log app for small groups of close friends.
This policy describes what Mochi collects, how it is stored, and what
control you have over your data. We try to keep this short and honest.
What Mochi collects
- Phone number — used to sign you in. We do not send
marketing SMS and we do not share your number with anyone.
- Nickname — the display name you choose for yourself
and the optional fields (age band, school) you fill in on your profile.
- Video clips you record and upload (the 2-second
mochi clips and the stitched daily batch).
- Chat messages and direct messages you send inside
a Mochi group.
- Photos you attach to chat or DMs.
- Push notification token (if you grant push permission)
so we can send reminders during your chosen window.
- Approximate location — if you grant location permission,
your device location is used to determine your country and time
zone, which tag your clips with a country flag and your local time. We
store only the country and time zone, never your precise coordinates.
How it is stored
Your data is stored on Mochi's own servers. We do not sell it. We do not
share it with third-party advertisers. We do not embed third-party
tracking pixels or analytics SDKs that profile you.
Who can see your content
- Clips and chat messages posted in a group are visible to the members
of that group only.
- Direct messages are visible only to the recipients you select.
- Your personal "your mochi" room is private to you.
User-Generated Content Policy
Zero tolerance. Mochi has zero tolerance for objectionable
content, harassment, or impersonation. Content or behavior that violates
our policy is removed. Repeat or severe offenders are permanently banned.
Everything you post on Mochi — clips, captions, photos, chat messages,
direct messages, nicknames, avatars — is "user-generated content" (UGC).
You are responsible for the content you upload. By using Mochi you agree
to our End-User License Agreement (EULA), which forbids:
- Sexually explicit, violent, or graphic content.
- Harassment, threats, bullying, hate speech, or doxxing.
- Spam, scams, phishing, or impersonation.
- Content that infringes someone else's copyright, trademark, or privacy.
- Content that is illegal in the jurisdiction where you or the
recipient is located.
How to report violating content
Every clip, chat message, direct message, and user profile in Mochi has
a Report action in the ··· menu. You can also
email us at
support@mochilog.app with a
screenshot and a short description.
Reports are reviewed by a human moderator and acted upon
within 24 hours. Actions we can take include removing
the offending content, warning the user, or banning the user.
We use community reports + manual review today, and we may add
automated moderation in future updates.
How to block another user
Open any clip, message, or user profile, tap the ··· menu, and
choose Block. Once blocked, you will not see their clips
or messages and they will not see yours, in any group you share.
Deleting your account
You can delete your Mochi account from inside the app at any time
(profile menu → delete account). When you do, your account record,
clips, chat messages, and DMs are removed from our servers.
Children
Mochi is intended for users 14 and older. We ask for an age band on
sign-up; please do not use Mochi if you are younger than that.
Permissions Mochi requests on your device
- Camera — to record your daily 2-second clip.
- Microphone — so your clips have sound.
- Photo library — only when you choose to save a clip
or daily batch to your phone.
- Location (while using the app) — optional; used to tag
your clips with your country flag and local time. Deny it and your clips
simply won't show a flag.
- Notifications — optional; used for the reminder
window you configure inside the app.
